Blue Check Linen Cotton C18th Sailor’s Shirt (SH120CB)
We’ve had this check specially woven from an original piece of C18th fabric. This was commonly used for working class or sailors shirts. The fabric is 55% linen and 45% cotton so breaks down very well. The shirt in this image has been washed and tumble dried to create an authentically lived in look.
These shirts are made to the same body pattern as our standard C18th SH120 but have a slightly higher collar.
The pattern is taken directly from an original shirt and can turn down over the cravat at the front. The collar itself is 3.5in high at the front.
These are voluminous garments cut in the same way as the originals of the period. Perfect for C18th – C19th costume, not ideal for those familiar only with C21st clothing who may find them intimidatingly large.
